Documentation

The Goetheanum Documentation is a department of the General Anthroposophical Society responsible for the preservation of its cultural property. It comprises the subdivisions Archives, Library and Art Collection.

Departments

Archives

The Archives hold files generated by the Anthroposophical Society and the School of Spiritual Science as well as collections about individuals and materials. They can be used by internal Goetheanum departments, but also by anthroposophical partner institutions. Access to the files can also be granted for the purpose of external scientific research.

Library

The Library specializes in Anthroposophy and strives to make all relevant publications available, including magazines, journals and translations. It serves the School of Spiritual Science's study, research and teaching purposes and is also open to the public. Its central holdings can be researched in an online catalogue.

Art Collection

The Art Collection holds works by Rudolf Steiner and other important anthroposophical artists comprising paintings/graphic arts, models/sculptures, furniture/applied arts, in particular in relation to the Goetheanum building and stage. The works of art held here are shown in exhibitions at the Goetheanum and can be lend to museums.
