"Little people, big impact"

For decades, artist and educator Norbert Carstens has been interested in the question: «What and how do children draw and paint on their own – spontaneously and without being given a theme or instructions?» His research has taken him throughout Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. In the process, he has been able to observe phenomenologically similar indi- vidual characteristics and recurring pictorial events. He has also compiled a collection of over 30,000 children’s drawings, some of which he has shown in exhibitions in various European cities. His work is also documented in a book and on a website.
