The Stream of Life and the Transformative Forces in the Stages of the Living

Work Retreat for Visual Artists

from 28. to 30. November 2025

Schreinereisaal

In an increasingly technical and mechanically influenced characterization of the given world, the sphere of the living-etheric gains ever greater significance. From out of the musicality of the cosmos, listening to cosmic musicality, Rudolf Steiner sculpted sevenspecific forms which portrayed a lawful development in the sequence of the capitals. One may perceive them as cosmic-plastic inspirations whose creative forces open the world of the living-etheric.

This year’s November conference shall serve as a working conference in the sense that together, we will practice entering deeper into the movement, which is the fundamental basis of the capitals. This does not imply copying the given forms, rather, to follow, to feelingly sense the forces of movement. In this sequential activity can a lawfulness be discovered? How do we experience the transition from one step to the next? And out of the inner experience of one step can we sense the next without resorting to imagining what we know? Through active engagement do these seven steps allow us to discover our own creative processes? These are questions to which we want to dedicate ourselves.

For us to share the artistic work of our colleagues, we would like to have an exhibition to which each conference participant may bring a maximum of three exhibit pieces. We have two times during which we will quietly observe the work and then share our observations through conversation. Regarding the works, please give specifications of format, due one week before the conference begins to the Section of Visual Arts:
sbk@goetheanum.ch

All contributions except for the class lesson will be given in German and translated into English.
We are looking forward to your arrival, to our shared working together and to your exhibition pieces. May our working together be a festival of encounters and observations.
