For earth and humanity
In the Youth Section, too, young people all over the world have expressed their existential concern for the environment and for society and have made this concern the theme of their events.
The international student conference «Courage», which took place at the beginning of the year, was about the active participation of each individual in our time and the effects this participation has on the environment and on the social sphere. The reports presented by initiatives from all over the world at the Youth Section’s international meeting also speak of the courageous and active facing of the challenges of our time, and of the will to bring about change and create new spaces for cooperation.
The first completed report on the «(Re-)Search» project also reveals that young people give others space to say what moves them and what they hope for. They described what they will do today so that what lives in them can become reality in a not too distant future. The young researchers presented their results, among other places, in Great Britain, Canada and the usa.
The 2020 February Days (Speaking from the heart, acting out of courage) will focus on our relationship with the earth. That this relationship is the quintessence of humanity – as Hannah Arendt said – is felt by many young people today who champion ways of living that can do justice to nature, society and human beings.
As a way of making all this – and more – possible, we have extended our contacts to foundations and other organizations that work with young people. This exchange results in positive encounters, is inspiring and, by facilitating greater understanding of the young people and their concerns, promotes the realization of their intentions.
