Rudolf Steiner as student and teacher
The conference Rudolf Steiner as Student and Teacher will focus on Rudolf Steiner’s essence and work from the perspective of lifelong learning.
When, after the first Waldorf School was newly founded, Rudolf Steiner was asked for a verse to speak at the beginning of the school day, he gave the teachers verses that remind the pupils every day that learning and working make us truly human. Children enter the reality of the earth as they get to know the world and participate in shaping the work. Both learning and work are also essential to Rudolf Steiner’s biography.
The work he did during his lifetime and its effect are a reflection of his lifelong learning and teaching. How did he learn and teach? How did he read Immanuel Kant as an adolescent and Goethe as a publisher? How did he perceive the artist Rafael and how the people of his own time? In retrospect, he wrote about his own learning at school, ‘I was awake in everything I acquired myself.’ How did he teach in the different contexts in which he spoke?
Learning and study culture
How did his teachers Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas learn? In learning from the learning and teaching of great teachers, their contribution and transformative power can become visible, as can the destiny that connects them with the world. Making this visible belongs to the tasks of the School of Spiritual Science.
The General Anthroposophical Section invites you to experience selected stages and themes in Rudolf Steiner’s learning and teaching. Starting with the Michaelmas Conference through to the end of the year, various contributions will mark the centenary of Rudolf Steiner’s death. The General Anthroposophical Section seeks to promote an intensified spiritual-scientific culture of learning and study.
